I believe Col 3:8 meant exactly what is said.

As far as Paul goes in Acts 21:10-14, he was warned not to follow his own will vs God's will. Paul could have avoided this problem because God warned him.

Acts 21:10-14 (New International Version)

10 After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.' "

12 When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." 14 When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, "The Lord's will be done."

Paul was in rebellion because it was the Holy Spirit who was warning him. I see in this passage that Paul ignored the Holy Spirit to the point that God lead another prophet to warn Paul because Paul would not listen. Even after this warning from Agabus, Paul spoke his intention regardless of what was said.

Good question my friend.David Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17964608030057055594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4042988399562625690.post-11661849120891119742009-07-24T20:35:02.510-04:002009-07-24T20:35:02.510-04:00Terrible!
